The European Union is to take action against the United Kingdom for breaking the terms of agreement on Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union.  According to sources, President of the European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen will make a statement on the issue with the European Council meeting to be held today discussing the issue of Brexit.

Britain’s announcement last month that they intend to supersede article 4 and article 5 of the British withdrawal agreement caused controversy with EU representative on the EU-UK committee
Maroš Šefčovič
warning the British that the EU will not “shy away” from taking action against UK.

The decision to override the withdrawl agreement has caused uneasiness in Northern Ireland as the override could cause the return of a strict border between the Northern Ireland and other countries of the United Kingdom.
