The Prosecutor General’s Office has revealed that they will not prosecute any of the 11 individuals indicted by the Anti-Corruption Commission of Maldives(ACC). The individuals were accused of corruption by the ACC for suspected foul play in the procurement of ventilators in the battle against COVID19 pandemic.

At this point it is unclear why the Prosecutor General’s Office has decided to not prosecute the suspects, but it is speculated that the stability of the government coalition may have a role in this decision by the Prosecutor General’s Office. The Prosecutor General’s Office will be holding a press conference on the subject at 13:00 today.
