People’s National Congress Vice-President Ibrahim Shujau has criticized the Male’ City Hall for its lack of transparency. In a tweet made today, the former MP stated that the City Council meetings should be held live for the public.
Ibrahim Shujau who is currently contesting for the Hulhumale’ Constituency seat in the upcoming Local Council Election has been critical of the current ruling party led City Council. In his tweet, Ibrahim Shujau further went on to state that under a Male’ City Council led by opposition PPM, all the Council meetings would be broadcasted live and accessible for public.
Following the controversial allegations of corruption against current ruling party senior member and Mayor of Male’ City Shifa Mohamed, the opposition coalition has repeatedly called for more reform and transparency within the city hall with calls to investigate the allegations of rampant corruption and misuse of authority within the City Council.
