The Ministry of higher Education has signed and exchanged a Memorandum of Understanding with the British Government to facilitate higher education opportunities for Maldivian students.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan while the British High Commissioner to the Maldives HE Caron Rohsler signed on behalf of the British Government. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed to create a partnership program with the Chevening Awards Scholarships. The new program would be called the Chevening/Maldives Scholarships.
The Chevening Awards program is a scholarship and fellowship program run by the Foreign, Commonwealth & development Office (FCDO) of the British Government with the aim of developing future leaders. According to the Ministry of Higher Education, the partnership program would allow the Ministry to offer 2 scholarships for 2021/2022 for a one-year Master’s degree at any accredited University in the UK.
