Italy is facing this Euro with a 100% winning performance in their Qualification matches. Italy scored a record 9 goals in their last qualification match. Italy is one of the favorites for this tournament with their impressive run in the qualification.

Qualifying

Italy’s performance in qualification round for Euro 2020 was exceptional. Italy was in Group with Finland, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Armenia and Liechtenstein. Italy won all the 10 matches they played during the qualification. Andrea Belotti was named the top scorer with 5 goals in the qualification.

A replacement for Gianluigi Buffon, a legend in Italy’s football. Donnarumma may be 22 years of age but he’s experience is far more than other players of that age. He have been playing first team football for years now, although he is young he is the perfect replacement for Buffon.

Group E- Sweden and Spain Advances to Round of 16.

Sweden leads the Group E over Spain to advance to the round of 16. Before the matches Spain and Slovakia all had an equal chance to play in round of 16. Although Spain was seen surprisingly strong compared other matches in this Euro.

Early in the match Spain missed a penalty although on 30th minute Spain scored their first goal of the match, which was an own goal from Martin Buravaka. With the help of Aymeric Laporte Spain doubled their lead on the extra minutes of the first half.

As Spain dominated the whole match they scored another 3 goals in the second half. On 56th minute Pablo Sarabia scored from a cross by Jordi Alba. Few minutes later Torres scored their 4th goal while the last goal was an own goal by juraj Kucka. This match was the match with the biggest goal difference in this year Euro. With this massive victory Spain had to finish in as the 2nd team from the group.

Sweden won their last game of the tournament to earn 7 points. Although Robert lewandowski scored twice Poland was defeated 3-2 by Sweden. With this result Poland was at the bottom of their group with 1 point.

After all the matches of the group stage teams to play in round of 16 is decided. In the knockout stage Sweden have to face Ukraine while Spain will have to face the world Cup runners up Croatia.

Group D: England, Croatia and Czech Republic to play in round of 16.

Last matches of group D was played simultaneously to decide who will pass to the next round. All teams in this group had the chance to pass through by winning their respective games but Scotland was the only team to stay behind as three teams from this group advanced to round of 16.

Croatia is the runners up of the FIFA World Cup, although they came to this Euro with high expectations group stage was difficult for them. Unlike the other matches we saw a much organized and dangerous Croatia in their last game against Scotland as they won 3-1.

Croatia opened the goal on 17th minute with Nikola Vlasic’s goal assisted by Ivan Perisic. Before the half time Scotts Equalized with Callum McGregor’s goal but Luka Modirc came to the rescue of Croatia. Modric scored at 62nd minute through the game and Ivan Perisic secured the round of 16 spot as he scored their third goal with Luka Modric’s assist.

On the Second match of the group England beats Czech Republic 1-0 but both teams advanced to next round, England as the group winner and Czech Republic from teams who got best results from teams in 3rd place. England dominated the match and played well in this game after the disappointment in their previous match. Only goal of the match was scored by Raheem Sterling on 12th minute after hitting the post few minutes earlier.

With the results England will face 2nd team from group F which might be France, Germany or Portugal. And Croatia will have to play against 2nd in group E.

Netherlands & Austria joins the round of 16 as group C winners.

In their first major tournament after 7 years, the Netherlands is impressive as they scored 8 goals in the group stage winning all three games to proceed to round of 16 as the winner of group C.

Netherlands won their last game of the group stage against North Macedonia 3-0 securing the top spot of the group. Memphis Depay scored the only goal of the first half on 24th minute of the game. Georginio Wijnaldum scored 2 goals in the second half both assisted by Memphis Depay to secure the victory.

Austria also joined the round of 16 with 6 points as they won 2 games of the group stage. Austria got the 2nd place of the group behind Netherlands. The only goal of the match was scored by Christoph Baumgartner on 21st minute of the game. Throughout the match both teams played an equal football but Austria created more opportunities to score more goals.
