President Solih who won the primary election held by MDP, as well as his opponent former President Mohamed Nasheed has been working to gain the support of Qasim.
JP will be making a final decision on the path for the party during its congress slated for February 24, 25.
Qasim has contested in two elections since the current constitution came into effect. That is the one in 2008 and 2013. But he has yet to receive enough votes to move on to the second round.
